Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling

Awww. What a great day.

I finished my paper this afternoon just in time for a finals-weary friend of mine to drop in and chat. That was nice. He was my breakfast buddy all quarter, so days when I get to hang out with him are really nice, even if it's only for a little while.

Then I showered, which I REALLY needed to do. My friends convinced me right before I started on my paper last night to go to a party for a friend, and while I was only there for 90 minutes, I got really sweaty from dancing and then really wet in the rain coming back. So my hair was a nightmare and I was kinda dirty. Anyhoo, the shower could not have been skipped.

Then as I was walking to my professor's office to turn in my paper, my lovely best friend called me. I was a little distracted while talking to her, which I felt bad about, but it was great to hear her voice. I can't wait to be home and hang out with her.

Then I cut up and wrapped the almost 10lbs of fudge that I made (no, I'm not kidding. I made enough for fifteen people to share with their families) for my friends. It's cheaper than knitting them all hats. Then I walked around town to deliver said fudge and say goodbye to my friends before break, and "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year." And for a few friends, "Happy Hannukah" was in order, too.

Then my mom called me to tell me that she had just been at the HNA Christmas concert, and she gave this one girl, who was sort of my protege in high school (I have a theory that every person, in their junior year, takes a shine to only one or two freshmen and hopes to mentor them through life. I had one such mentor; she became kind of a surrogate big sister. I like to think of Katherine the same way I know Roach thought of me) some flowers because this is her senior year and her last Christmas concert at HNA. Being the truly good-hearted and thoughtful woman that she is, my mother put my name on the card. So Katherine just called to say thanks, and we ended up talking for almost an hour. She's such a great girl. I'm still a little shocked that she's a senior; it feels like yesterday that she was just this little freshman girl. She's all grown up and ready to face the world. Wow.
