Stuck

I have to write a piece in sonata form for music theoy, and I'm really stuck. I've figured out the chord progrssions, but I have to write a melody and accompaniment part, as well. Maybe it's that I wrote a bad progression (but hell, I can change it) but every melody I've come up with hasn't been that great. So I switched gears and am trying to write the accompaniment part first, which further exposes the crappiness of the chords. So I think I'll revise them and then try the accompaniment again, and maybe the melody will start to flow.

The problem is that I've been at this for over two hours and haven't really gotten anywhere. My brain is tired. I think I'll stop and either have a snack or take a power nap. Maybe both.

I was going to go to a party with the Newman Center folks (Catholic ministry on campus), but when I said I'd go I thought I'd have my homework under control. And tomorrow I have to get up extra eary (6:30am) to help with a fundraiser for the trip to Mexico. I'd sleep in, but I need fundraising points to be able to afford the trip. So maybe I'll stay in and work tonight and go to bed early so that I'm not dead on my feet in the kitchen tomorrow.

St. Cecelia (patroness of music), pray for me and my thus-far mediocre piece...
