What? I keep a blog?

Holy hell, I feel like crap. I have for a week. Which is probably why I haven't written at all. My voice is gone and my body aches (meaning I can't sing and working out is like purgatory). I've been getting through ten-hour shifts by popping as many cold and sinus meds as I can safely imbibe at one time. I can't wait for this damn affliction to go away...

In other news, work is still a little boring, with intermittent moments of terror. This past Friday I spent the most significant parts of my shift hiding in my truck from a murderer.

No, I'm not kidding. We were flagging an area right by a squatter's camp, where most of the people are almost always strung out on something or other (that sounds like a really terrible thing to say, but I wouldn't say it unless it were true). One of the guys there actually murdered someone once, and for some reason he was acquitted. He's also assaulted a lot of people while high (he carries a hammer on his belt. It's seen active duty), so my crew chief was really cautious about him getting near us, his flaggers. He warned us on the way to the site that if anyone came near us, we had to call him on our radios and let him know. He would stop the machine and come watch until he knew we were safe, and then continue working. It was reassuring that we were all looking out for each other, but honestly I would have preferred that I didn't have to hide from violent/homicidal people while I'm trying to work!

Last night was Adam and Lauren's West Coast wedding reception, which was lovely. BBQ, badminton, volleyball (during which we established that I'm a terrible athlete!) and had a bonfire. It was so nice to see everyone, especially the happy couple.

That's all for now. I'm really sore from volleyball, so I'm going to hit the gym to try and run it out. That may not be such a great idea, being that I feel like crap, but what the hell. But first I have to clean the house...
