National Novel Writing Month

As I entered the library today, I passed a flier on the bulletin board that caught my eye. It said, in huge letters: "...one day, I'd like to write a novel."

Upon closer inspection, it talks about how "someday" could potentially mean "any day," so why not now? As such, November is National Novel Writing Month. The call has gone out for would-be-writers across the country (world?) to make it happen. The goal? To write a 750 page novel by the end of November.

And.... I'm going to do it!

Sure, most of it will be crap! Sure, I barely have enough time to do what actually needs to be done! Sure, there will be no time for revision! So much the better! The ultimate goal is quantity, not quality (and if you know me, you know that I'll go back through and revise once I've submitted my official entry), and why the hell not? I'd love to see what I can spit out in 30 days.

Can I write a coherent narrative, a long one, in that amount of time? Who knows? I want to know. I want to try. I'm going to write a novel next month. Wish me luck.
