Next quarter

Registration didn't go exactly as planned. But, let's face it, it almost never does. However, I think I've worked out a rather ideal schedule. Every day except for Tuesday, my first class begins at 11am. Say it with me: ahhhhhhhh. I don't plan to sleep the quarter away, but I can at least get up at nine and work, or hit the gym in the morning, or just sit in Red Square and bask in the beauty that is Western in the spring. Nice. In case you were wondering, Tuesday morning is my biology lab, and it starts at nine. Not too bad.

The original plan was to take Music 202 (a survey course about jazz), English 347 (young adult fiction. It was full. Don't worry; I'll take it eventually), biology 204 (intro to evolution and ecology), and music 271 (advanced women's ensemble). Now I'm taking English 350 (introduction to creative writing- things like fiction, nonfiction, plays, poetry, etc. Who's pumped? I'm pumped!), English 313 (history of critical and cultural theory. Required for the major and sounds really cool.), music 271 (I can't live without choir), and biology 204 (fucking GURs...).

Music 202 would have essentially completed my minor, but here's the thing. 202 and 205 complete the same requirement. 202 is jazz, and 205 is music of non-Western cultures. I love jazz, but I'm dying to take 205, instead. It covers so many really awesome cultures and you learn so much about music. It's only offered in the fall. I thought of taking 202 just to finish my minor, but then I realized, hey, I may never get a chance to study this again. I may as well wait and take the course that I actually want to take, instead of jumping into one that I don't just to finish a minor. How's that for being self-aware?

In other news, a stupid voice in my head that sounded like an overzealous motivational speaker said to me while I was at the gym, "Hey! I'll bet you can do 100 crunches on that ab machine over there!" So I said, "OK!" and ran to the weight machine that does your abs. Holy moly, my stomach hurts.
